The top 10 picks of New Media Art presented by Rhizome editor-at-large Karen Archey consist of a rather disappointing line-up, which sadly and squarely falls into the category of "business as usual". It seems that even the more promising contemporary new media art practitioners on Archey's list are unable to articulate anything new (not to mention anything that might even resemble some kind of criticism of the status quo -- time to occupy new media!)

For a closer look at a media-mash that does not go beyond the category of what already has been done, seen, and -- except for Archey's reminder -- happily forgotten, visit:

Pixels are patient ... let's hope that in 2012 artists will find a way to put the "new" back into new media art.
