No new posts Netporn and the Alienation of Desire
This series of postings is a critical archeology of the phenomenon of Internet pornography based on a reading of Guy Debord’s 1967 work The Society of the Spectacle. The operative thesis is that netporn constitutes a further step in the evolution of the spectacle (as analysed by Debord), and as such, that netporn exhibits and further illustrates the characteristic features and contradictions that the spectacle today enacts as a social and historical form of life on a global stage.
